Viera, Fla The First Annual Scarecrow Stroll and Harvest Festival was a HUGE success! Residents of our community “strolled” through over 30 of Viera’s local businesses to view their respective scarecrows casting over 100 ballots to vote for their favorite scarecrow during the “Scarecrow Stroll” held October 1st – 14th.
On October 15th, the scarecrows were moved to the “Harvest Festival”, graciously hosted at the Viera Hospital courtyard. Over 4,000 people attended the inaugural event bringing with them over 500 cans of food for the Suntree/Viera Local Food Bank.
A Silent Auction was held to auction off the attending scarecrows with the money being donated locally as follows:
Business-made scarecrows sold for a total of $1060.00 with the money being donated to the Suntree/Viera Local Food Bank.
School-made “schoolcrows” sold for a total of $360.00 with the money being donated back to the individual schools. For more fun pictures go to: http://smu.gs/nLwTkw.
